Kolam also known as Rangoli, is a dainty floor painting, which is an integral part of South Indian tradition. It is a beautiful and perhaps the only one art, drawn every day by women in the households. It symbolizes beauty and provides a welcoming environment.
Start with 23 dots in the center and stop at 12 by putting interlaced dots at both sides as shown above.
Join dots as shown above and and erase the remaining dots. Fill with desired colour powders.
Put 19 dots - seven lines in the center. Leave three dots and put one line - then leave one dot - one line and repeat this and finally put three lines both sides as shown above.
Join dots as shown above and erase the left out dots. Draw thick line and fill with desired colour powders.
11 - 6 interlaced dots (Idukku Pulli) Kolam.
Start with 11 dots in the center and stop at 6 by putting interlaced dots at both sides as shown above.
Join dots and draw outer lines and put some flower designs in between as shown above. Erase the visible dots and draw thick lines. Fill with desired colour powders.
27 - 13 parallel dots (Neer Pulli) Kolam.
Put 27 dots 13 lines. Then leave seven dots at both ends - seven lines. Join dots as shown above.
Draw thick lines. Erase the remaining dots. Fill with desired colour powders.
27 - 11 parallel dots (Neer Pulli) Kolam.
Joins dots as shown above and erase the remaining dots. Draw thick lines and fill with desired colour powders.
21 - 1 parallel dots (Neer Pulli) Kolam.
Put 21 dots in the center. Leave one dot at both ends and stop at 1 as shown above.
Join dots as shown above and draw thick line. Fill with desired colour powders.
20- 4 parallel dots (Neer Pulli) Kolam.
Put 20 dots 4 lines. Then leave one dot at both ends and stop at 4 by putting parallel dots at both sides as shown above.
Joins dots as shown above and erase the remaining dots. Draw thick lines and fill with desired colour powders.
17 - 17 parallel dots (Neer Pulli) Kolam.
Put 17 dots - 17 lines as shown above.
Joins dots as shown above. Draw thick lines and fill with desired colour powders.
