Kolam also known as Rangoli, is a dainty floor painting, which is an integral part of South Indian tradition. It is a beautiful and perhaps the only one art, drawn every day by women in the households. It symbolizes beauty and provides a welcoming environment.

Hi Kamala, I found your blog while searching for pulli kolam patterns. I always used a kola thattu to do my puja room kolams, and recently began to perfect my maa kolam skills. Thank you for sharing some of these amazing and intricate patterns. Great job cataloging these.
After settling in North, I missed my early days when I used draw many kolams in front of our house. I have almost forgotten all those kolams. Thanks to your site, which helped me to revive my kolams.
Hi, I used to be very good at this during my school days.... But my skills are confined to little stars in front of the pooja now-a-days... Not many chances for these big pulli kolams. Brought back all those happy memories when all my cousins get up early in the morning to put these kolams during 'margazhi maasam' at my grandma's place... (a typical village)..... Thanks for sharing all these amazing kolams and so many of them too..
Shall we have your contact number. We have wedding at home in Chennai. Will it be convenient to come and decorate the house with Kolangal. We will pay the professional charges. Please respond.
Hi Kamala Mam, All kolams are so nice and your step by step explanation is so simple and it is really easier to understand. And also giving proper colours to the kolam is good. This reminds of my mother because she used to put all these kolams and she also had a separate kolam note in which she had drawn thousands of kolams. I am newly married; daily I am learning kolams and putting in my door-steps, and this is making my sister-in-law jeolous because previously she used to put kolams in our house. Now I am putting different kolams daily and earning good name. Like your kolams..
